Urbani is an environmentally friendly company that does not import any kind of wild sturgeon caviar.
All of the sturgeon caviar available on the website is farm-raised and harvested legally.
All Urbani caviar is treated with the purest sea salt and processed in rooms with consistent temperature to avoid any possible overheating or overcooling.
The company’s stringent standards completely correspond to and even exceed the requirements of CITES, US Fish, Wildlife Service and FDA.
Caviar is a type of roe, and roe is the eggs that come from fish (most famously, the sturgeon).
True caviar can come from four types of sturgeon: Beluga, Osetra, Sterlet, or Sevruga.
Caviar should be kept cold and served chilled, never at room temperature.
Metallic spoons should not be used while serving or eating it because they could leave an unfortunate metallic taste on the roe.
Serving Size: Allow at least 1⁄2 to 1 ounce per person.
Storage: Caviar should be kept at 26-35°F.
It will last for up to 6 weeks in the refrigerator when the container is unopened. Air is caviar’s largest enemy: if not entirely consumed, please cover the entire surface of the tin with plastic film.
The remaining caviar should be consumed within the next 2-3 days.

As soon as you receive your caviar, place your caviar tin on a bed of ice mixed with salt (in a bowl or tray) and refrigerate in the bottom drawer of your refrigerator at temperatures 28°-34°F.
Consume within 48 hours for optimal freshness. Avoid using metallic spoons as they can impart an unpleasant metallic taste to the roe.
Similar to our storage recommendations, caviar should be served over a bed of ice to ensure the coldest possible temperature.
Caviar can be consumed as is or in combination with a food of your choice that does not expose it to extensive heat.
Opening a caviar tin requires care and precision:
- Ensure hands and the tin are clean and dry.
- Use a caviar key or butter knife to gently insert and twist along the lid's seam.
- Lift the lid carefully to avoid spills
- Serve immediately and keep chilled until served.
To guarantee the utmost freshness of your caviar, we ship all perishable items in insulated packaging with ice packs. Our specialized packaging is meticulously designed to uphold peak freshness during transit.
